MEKONG HOTEL

1305

HOTEL AND LEISURE CENTRE IN AREYKSAT

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA

PRIVATE COMMISSION, 2014

The positioning of the new buildings forms an edge which surrounds a void. This empty space host terraces, swimming pools and other public outdoors functions.

The project reutilises the existing main house, which will function as a restaurant and members private lounge.

Three new long structures are proposed:

- Long House (cocktail bar, conference rooms, private lounges,

  restaurant, terrace, gym)

- Pool House (pool bar, changing rooms)

- Service House (staff facilities, service areas)

The new structures are inspired in the traditional Cambodian architecture. They foster natural ventilation, and provide rain and sun protection. Modular timber facades filter the light and allow the air to circulate through the buildings.

Visitors can enjoy the views of the Mekong river and the skyline of the city, both from the garden and from the buildings.
