LUMIERE TECTONIQUE

1403

SPORTS HALL FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL

YVERDON-LES-BAINS, SWITZERLAND

COMPETITION, 2014

WITH ALESSANDRA DA FIENO, ARCHITECT

Tectonic Light

The site is located in Pestalozzi street, with views to the castle. It links the old town with the urban expansion towards South.

The main entrance is located at the intermediate level, which is a reinterpretation of the way visitors access the castle.
A generous covered plaza invites people to gather and sit down on the steps, while enjoying the urban scene.

The project comprises three main spaces:
- Sports hall, on the ground level
- Two rythmic spaces, on the second storey

Light is explored as the connecting element between the main spaces. The structural system works together with functions and light, to support the coherence of the whole architecture.
